!Friendica Admins A short questions to the admins that use/used the Twitter addon. You most likely will remember this tweet from Twitter on March 30th:
Tweet from the official Twitter API account: "Over the next 30 days, we will deprecate current access tiers such as Standard (v1.1), Essential (v2), Elevated (v2), and Premium so we recommend that you migrate to the new tiers as soon as possible for a smooth transition."
It's now the 8th of May - and at least my Twitter connection still does work - despite the announcement that the access to the 1.1 API would be removed until end of April.

Question: Is the connection still working at your systems as well? Or is it cancelled by now?

Just for the record, last posting from Twitter was 3 days ago but I don't care enough to log in there and check the status... ;-)

Would be interesting to know. Currently 1 out of my 4 apps are deactivated. I would like to know the pattern they are using.

@Michael Vogel @Tobias I think my app was disconnected on 19th... last Tweet was then. I always cross post from Friendica to Twitter, unless it is some special Fediverse content or something I don't post publicly.

@Tobias @Michael Vogel can we use the free API access? Would Friendica work with the V2 API or are all the endpoint different?
I applied for free access and it seems like I can add an app now.

The Link from @Michael Vogel just showed a page telling me I have to pay 100$ for API or I could sign up for free API. So I signed up for free API confirming I read all the TOS (which I didn't) and et voila I have free V2 API now.

Currently we don't support that. Once that the Twitter access is restricted for all users, I will start working at it. We can't do this in parallel since we have to change nearly everything. And also this will be a posting connector, so no timeline import anymore.

@Michael Vogel I see. No problem. I think I don't need that Twitter support anymore.

However, how do I get rid of all the Twitter contacts in Friendica, is it correct that those will disappear when I "unlink" Twitter or deactivate the Addon?

Try what happens when you deactivate the addon. If this doesn't work, then wait for some PR that will come eventually.

When I unlinked the connector, all my Twitter contacts disappeared.

@Andy H3 unlinking did not work... some fault, I guess unlinking was not possible because there was no API access anymore, but it seems deactivation of the addon worked. At least searching for "twitter" in my contacts does not return anything and I think it did before... on the other hand I still have so many contacts.
So I am not completely sure.

Normally, deprecation and removal are different things with APIs, but who knows what's going on at Twitter HQ these days?

@Andy H3 alright, I am just wondering if the re-connection of the account works, so not the admin settings, but the account connection. Just to be sure.

I don't think that they work by region. I have got a look at posts with some of the keywords and it seems as if this deactivating is spread really wildly.

@Philipp Holzer @Michael Vogel May I ask whether you had registered a phone number or other contact details apart from an email address?

I never did, and perhaps that's why my app was entirely deleted by Twitter. I don't even see the suspended notice.

Jepp. Ich habe Deinen Post zum Anlass genommen, um hier rumzufragen. Augenscheinlich wurden erst wenige gesperrt. Ich bin gespannt, wann sie allen den Zugriff abgeklemmt haben werden.

Good point. That's probably why Musk decided to remove it. Twitter was in loss for the last few years so that could be one of the attempts to turn that around.
